The Heyfield golf course has been carved out of natural bush, and is a haven for many native birds and animals, including echidnas and kangaroos. It is a popular destination for local birdwatchers.

The course is fully irrigated and is gently undulating, which suits all age groups. The beautifully manicured greens are a feature of the course, which are always held in high regard throughout Gippsland. This little gem of a golf course is hidden away in a bush setting 3kms to the west of the town, on Golflinks Road. The course is 18 holes, 5724 m long for men, and 5017 m for ladies. The course par is 72 for men, 71 for ladies, with ACR of 70 and AWCR of 70. Winning Ladies Pennant - Heyfield GC | 18th hole - Heyfield GC |
The golf course was originally 9 holes, situated in the centre of town, and in 1950 a local identity, Mr Fitzpatrick, donated 200 acres off the Seaton Road, for the course to be re-established. At first the course consisted of sand scrape greens, a far cry from the current manicured grass greens, which are well respected throughout the district. The course has continued to improve over the years, through the hard work of many volunteers, and this trend continues today. Volunteers maintain the course with irrigated fairways and greens, neat gardens and surrounds, and a comfortable country style clubhouse. The clubhouse comfortably seats 100 guests on special days, with the well stocked bar catering to thirsty players after a round. 'nightlife' - Heyfield GC |
