The South Pines Golf Club is a fine course positioned between Stratford and Bairnsdale, just off the Princes Highway. The course is competely run by volunteers and provides a great challenge for any grade of golfer. As the name suggests, Pine trees feature heavily on the layout which is a par 72 for men and 73 for women.
The course has some gentle undulation and is of particular interest in that the huge big hitter is not necesarily advantaged on some of the holes which require position over power to achieve a good score. 9th green - South Pines GC | 14th fairway - South Pines GC |
Improvements have been carried out over recent years through the hard work of the membership which have made an already impressive course that much more challenging and pleasing.
Don't be put off the 'volunteer' tag or that fact that you may not have heard of the course before but do be assured that time spent exploring this hidden part of Gippsland's golfing landscape is time well spent. An 'honesty box' system is in place for most of the week but if you wish to join with members and play in one of the regular competitons look on the on course page of this site. 4th hole - South Pines GC | South Pines - a great challenge |
