The road out of Melbourne is mostly dual carriageway with a 110km/h speed limit. Take the Monash Freeway and make use of the newly opened Pakenham By-pass which cuts around 15 minutes from your journey to Gippsland. Stopping off points include Yarragon and Trafalgar which are both right on the Highway. Once through Rosedale follow the Maffra signs off the Princes Highway. The course is on Fulton Road on the far side of town as you approach it.
From the East you can call in at any number of stops including Orbost, Lakes Entrance, Bruthen and Bairnsdale before coming to Stratford where the Maffra road is signposted once through the town. Take the Maffra-Stratford Road and Fultons Road and the course are sign posted on your right just before you enter Maffra township.

Maffra is a picturesque town blessed with excellent sporting facilities and a dynamic shopping strip. The main street is beautifully laid out with trees lining the thoroughfare. Banks, hotels, pokie clubs, bakeries, chemists and a newsagency can all be found within walking distance of your accommodation.
The local tourism industry is growing and there are lots of things to do during your stay. Main points of interest are the Gipspland Vehicle Collection with an ever changing display of vintage cars, the Sugar Beet Museum detailing Maffra’s history before dairying and Lake Glenmaggie where the Lake Glenmaggie Yacht Club holds its races.
20 minutes from Maffra lies Sale, a larger town with shops, supermarkets, restaurants, cinema and a recently renovated (Dec 07) leisure centre. From here you are just a short drive from the 90 Mile Beach.
If looking for an interesting drive, head up towards Licola, Victoria's only privately owned town and home to the Lions Club Village. The area has recently had a bad run wth bushfires and floods, but despite that is a fascinating place to see and observe both the power of nature and also its ability to regenerate and change the landscape.
You can keep an eye on the weather through the Bureau's Radar Web Site or the forecastfor central Gippsland. Just because it's raining where you are doesn't mean that its raining in Maffra so have a look and plan your visit.
